A Mumbai-based Executive Manager has been arrested for harassing a woman employee.
The victim in her complaint has mentioned that the alleged harasser has been harassing her for the past two years, threatening her with dire consequences should she raise her voice against him.
He would pass lewd comments at her ever since she had joined in 2016. After a year, it was followed by uncomfortable stares for long hours.
On March 8th while she was using the washroom, she heard someone banged the door, and upon inquiry she found the perpetrator to be the same harasser. On one occasion he touched her inappropriately and when she raised her voice against the same he threatened her with dire consequences.
She had felt the urge to register a complaint with the police but was too intimidated to do so. However, after consulting with her husband, she lodged a complaint against him.
Based on her complaint the alleged harasser has been arrested by Sion police and later released on bail. The investigation process is underway.
HCS officer arrested for sexual harassment
Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer has been arrested for sexually harassing a woman staffer of Directorate of School Education, Panchkula. He has been charged under Sections 354-A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) and 354-D (Stalking) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
The victim-complainant has alleged that on May 29th while she was working on her system, the alleged harasser sexually harassed her. She somehow managed to get rid of his clasps and raised the alarm. Her colleagues came and rescued her.
Further in her complaint she has mentioned that the alleged harasser had also once asked her for a coffee date with him and would often follow her to the bus stop.
She became so intimidated with his activities that she had asked her brother to pick her up from the bus stop.
The alleged harasser was produced before the district court but has been granted bail. However, in the interim, work has been withdrawn from him and the matter has been forwarded to Internal Complaint’s Committee which is enquiring into the case.
Professor of leading engineering college held for ‘molesting’ girl
In a recent a case, a professor of a renowned engineering college of Mumbai has been charged under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354A (Sexual Harassment and Punishment for Sexual harassment) of the Indian penal Code, 1860 for sexually harassing a female student. The victim in her complaint has mentioned that on 18th May, the alleged professor had made her wait for two hours under the pretext of signing her summer term form. He called her around 5 p.m. and molested her and further threatened her to fail her in her exams if she did not listen to him.
The ICC of the institute has initiated a probe into the matter but yet to submit its report, post which the institute will take appropriate action against the alleged harasser. In the interim, the alleged harasser has been barred from taking the special classes which the institute conducts during summers for weaker students.

IIM-Rohtak director Dheeraj Sharma booked for sexual harassment
Dheeraj Sharma the director of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Rohtak has been booked under Sections 354 (intent to outrage woman’s modesty) and 354 A (sexual harassment) for sexually harassing a former Assistant Professor of the Institute.
The victim in her complaint stated that soon she had joined the Institute in 2017 the alleged harasser started sharing his views over extramarital relationships with her which would thoroughly embarrass her. She would always strive to avoid the discussion since she understood his intention behind raising such topic.
She further stated in her complaint that soon his discussions transpired into vulgar taunts to physical inappropriate touches. When she did not agree to his illicit demands, he started inflicting mental stress on her.
However, the Chief Administrative Officer of the Institute, in a letter to the Police on 10th May has revealed the managements’ apprehension of the victim cooking up a story to take revenge over her termination.
The management says that during her course of employment she would often misbehave and threaten to lodge false criminal case against the faculty and the management which ultimately led to her termination.
The alleged harasser is yet to be questioned since he is not in the town at present.
