Sexual Harassment: Air India takes stringent action against employee accused of sexual harassment
A pilot accused of sexual harassment suspended by Air India
• A woman pilot of Air India has submitted a written complaint of sexual harassment against a senior pilot.
• Alleged incident happened at a training programme in Hyderabad.
• In her complaint she said that the accused had asked her to join for dinner where he asked her uncomfortable questions about her relation with her husband.
• In view of the complaint, an inquiry has been initiated to look into the alleged incident.
• Pending completion of the inquiry, the accused pilot has been suspended and disbarred from entering the Air India premises without a written permission. He has further been restricted from the following:
• Leave Delhi without the prior permission of the Regional Director
• Enter into any other employment or vocation
• Hold the Pilot in Command and ID Card
• Entitled to wages except from subsistence allowance
• In the wake of the complaint, a circular has also been issued by Air India to curb sexual harassment and every Air India employee has been made responsible towards building up a safe and secured environment against any harassment, abuse or discrimination.
• After the complaint was made, employees have also expressed their concern regarding a promotion of another employee against whom an internal enquiry for sexual harassment is pending and an FIR in this regard has also been lodged.
