The Department of Pharmaceuticals had launched a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the promotion of domestic manufacturers by setting up greenfield plants to attain self-reliance in respect of these Bulk drugs. This will also reduce the import dependency of basic raw materials. This is done via four different target segments, in Two Fermentation based – at least 90% and in the Two Chemical Synthesis based – at least 70%, for the period 2020-21 to 2029-30.

The applications under the Target Segment-IV to be scrutinised and approved by 31st March 2021.

Sectors such as critical key starting materials/drug intermediaries & active pharmaceutical ingredients, manufacturing of medical devices and pharmaceuticals drugs are included in the scheme.
