Sexual Harassment Charge Manager told to pay Rs 50,000 for 60 months

The Bengaluru State Labour Department has imposed a monthly penalty of Rs 50,000 for five years on a senior manager of a software company for sexual harassment. The department also directed the company not to promote him or give him any hike for the next three years.

Holding the company guilty under the provisions of Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013, the company management has to pay her Rs 4,80,000 towards her monthly salary between September 2015 and December 2016.

PF Commissioner to pay Rs 1.42 lakh penalty for delay in settlement

The Central Provident Fund Commissioner and others have been asked by a consumer court here to pay Rs 1.42 lakh interest due to a man along with Rs 8,000 compensation for delay in disbursement of his PF.

The Consumer Forum took note of the provisions in the Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act-1952 which stated that the claims, complete in all respects submitted along with requisite documents, shall be settled and benefit amount paid to the beneficiaries within 30 days from the date of its receipt by Commissioner. If there is any deficiency in the claim, the same shall be recorded in writing and communicated to the applicant within 30 days from the date of receipt of such application.

In keeping with the provisions, there is a delay of 175 days in settlement; hence, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner, and five other respondents, including the PF regional offices in Mumbai and Thane need to pay Rs 1,42,893 to subscriber Tambe.

Minimum pension raised to Rs 9,000 for central govt employees: Minister

The minimum pension has been increased to Rs 9,000 per person besides a two-fold hike in ex-gratia amount for central government employees, union minister Jitendra Singh said on Thursday. Addressing the 29th meeting of the standing committee of voluntary agencies (SCOVA), he said almost 88% of pension accounts have been seeded to Aadhaar. There are about 50-55 lakh pensioners in the country, said Singh, minister of state in Prime Minister’s office.
