Quality & Standards of PPE for Factories

The Gujarat Govt. has amended the Gujarat Factories Rules mandating the quality & standards of PPE equipment to be provided to workers in a Factory.

Factory Managers and Health & Safety Teams must ensure the following standards procuring and distributing PPEs in a Factory:

1. All PPE Equipment must be compliant with relevant Indian Standard or be approved by the Chief Inspector of Factories.

2. If the Indian Standard compliance or approval by Chief Inspector is not available, PPE equipment must adhere to European Standard (EN) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or ISO standards, till the relevant Indian Standard is available.
